Jones, when she went to college, was regarded as one of the top hurdlers. In the 2002 NCAA Track & Field Championship, she won the hurdles 100 meters. She was also on the team that placed 2nd in the 100 meters relay. Jones was a winner of the indoor hurdles at the NCAA championships in 2003 as well as 2004. Jones began her track career in the year 2005, when she finished her university studies. In 2005 she was first in Torino Memorial race. Brandt was discovered by casting directors in her home town and was cast in the role as Naevia for the Starz smash Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena.
